The Memorial Gardens on Trent Embankment in Nottingham were constructed during the 1920’s to commemorate those Nottingham men and women who lost their lives during the Great War. It has subsequently become the focus of remembrance for conflicts that have occurred since. Every year on the second Sunday in November, Nottingham people hold a Remembrance Day service where wreaths are laid in honour of those who lost their lives. The park is also the home of the Queen Victoria statue which was removed from its site in Nottingham's Old Market Square in the City Centre.
